Tattoo Aftercare Instructions
Proper aftercare is essential for healing and for preventing infection. Please read all instructions carefully.
By receiving a tattoo, you acknowledge that you have received and understand these aftercare guidelines.
Immediately After
Your tattoo will be covered with a bandage or wrap when you leave the studio.
Leave the bandage on for at least 2–4 hours (or as instructed by your artist).
Before removing the bandage, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water.
Cleaning
Remove the bandage gently.
Wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap.
Use clean hands only — do not use washcloths, loofahs, or sponges.
Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap and residue.
Pat dry with a clean paper towel.
Do NOT rub.
Do NOT use cloth towels (they can harbor bacteria).
Moisturizing & Ongoing Care
Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free tattoo aftercare ointment or lotion.
Do not over-apply — the tattoo should not look shiny or greasy.
Wash and moisturize the tattoo 2–3 times per day.
Continue this routine until the tattoo is fully healed (typically 2–4 weeks).
What to Expect During Healing
Mild redness, swelling, or tenderness is normal.
Light scabbing and peeling may occur.
Itching is common — do not scratch or pick at the tattoo.
Color may appear dull while healing and will brighten once healed.
What NOT to Do While Healing
❌ Do not submerge the tattoo in water
(no baths, hot tubs, pools, lakes, or rivers)
❌ Do not expose the tattoo to direct sunlight or tanning beds
❌ Do not apply petroleum jelly, alcohol, peroxide, or scented products
❌ Do not pick scabs or peeling skin
❌ Do not re-bandage unless directed by your artist
Clothing & Daily Activities

Red streaks extending from the tattoo
Fever or chills
Severe pain that worsens instead of improves
If you believe your tattoo may be infected, seek medical care immediately.
